About Joe Boga
New York City based trumpeter and Juilliard graduate Joe Boga is highly sought after for his dynamic musical style deeply rooted in the historical tradition of Jazz. He has performed professionally in a wide variety of venues, from Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to Birdland and the Newport Jazz Festival, across the United States and abroad.
Boga is a member of the legendary ensemble Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, specializing in music of the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s. In addition to being heard on the soundtracks of numerous films and TV shows (most recently Martin Scorsese’s “Killer’s of the Flower Moon”), the Nighthawks can be heard live every Monday and Tuesday night as part of their residency at the world famous Birdland jazz club in New York City. In addition to his position with the Nighthawks, Boga is the trumpeter for renowned French guitarist Stephane Wremble, and can be heard in his newest project Django New Orleans, which blends the traditional sounds of New Orleans with the music of Gypsy Jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Boga has performed with highly acclaimed artists and ensembles including Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Jon Batiste, Garrison Keillor, Loren Schoenberg, the Anderson Brothers, the Kyle Athayde Dance Party, among many others.
An avid educator, Boga has offered masterclasses and clinics nationally and internationally. In 2023 he was the director of the Pennsylvania Music Educator Association’s All-State Jazz Band, comprised of the most talented young musicians in the state.
Boga was a student of jazz legend Wynton Marsalis, former Principal Trumpet of the Metropolitan Opera Mark Gould, and renowned broadway lead trumpeter Chris Jaudes. During his time at the Juilliard School of Music, he was the recipient of the Billy Strayhorn scholarship.
